A geneticist's year with AI: hours saved daily, more family time, and a finished book

A semi-retired geneticist shares a personal account of two years of deep AI use:
- Health: with diabetes and chronic kidney disease, diet planning used to take 1-2 hours a day. A project linked directly to his doctor now generates daily meal and medication plans from pantry lists, trackers, and preferences; his numbers improved substantially, and the agent flagged two items (a new medication and supplement) his doctor approved.
- Teaching: manages communications and grading for 100+ online students, saving 30-60 minutes a day; built a Jeopardy game in under 5 minutes (content still his own).
- Micro-farm: AI plans and manages their half acre, connected to a weather station and coop—now with chickens, beehives, an orchard, and an expanded garden.
- Finances: agents manage investments and his husband's small business, and helped start a side hustle taking 30-45 minutes a week and earning $200-300/week.
The bigger change: he now babysits his granddaughter three times a week, sees family almost every other evening, visits his parents more, and finished 10,000 words and a book last week. Citing High Tech, High Touch, he concludes high tech has delivered high touch—for now.
