OpenAI launches Agents API public beta: fully managed cloud agents with Codex harness

OpenAI has released its Agents API in public beta, letting developers go from idea to working cloud agent without building their own harness or infrastructure. Built on the Codex harness and fully managed by OpenAI, it handles orchestration, long-running sessions, and context management. A new OpenAI hire says he helped ship it within his first two weeks.
