OpenAI ships GPT-Live-1 API, exposing the full-duplex voice system behind ChatGPT's 1B users
craigsdennis · x · 2026-09-11
OpenAI announced GPT-Live-1 is now available in the API, letting developers build on the same voice system shipped to 1B ChatGPT users.
The system supports full-duplex conversation—agents that listen while they speak and can be naturally interrupted—paired with solid toolcalling, and works with the models and harness you choose. Thibault Sottiaux noted the experience spawns many fun applications and that "going back to text-only experiences after this feels harder than I had expected."
