Researcher 'Turns the Fly Bisexual' Using a 166,606-Neuron Connectome Model
dejavucoder · x · 2026-09-11
Inspired by Kallman et al. (2015), nicochristie blocked mAL output in a 166,606-neuron fly connectome model and measured responses in 8 candidate P1 male courtship neurons. Across 3 experiments, cued by other males, baseline P1 spikes rose from 0 to 1-5 after blockade—effectively rewiring the male fly's courtship circuit.
