NYU mathematician says OpenAI pushed to scrub collaborator from Navier-Stokes proof announcement

OpenAI claimed an unreleased internal model, running 10,000 coordinating agents for 88 hours, produced a proof resolving part of the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize problem — then the story turned to credit. NYU mathematician Tristan Buckmaster says he and Anthropic researcher Levent Alpöge had worked on the problem for a year, and that OpenAI pushed him to remove Alpöge's name after learning of their progress via a private call. OpenAI hasn't disputed the timeline in detail, and the Clay Mathematics Institute hasn't verified the result.
