humans& launches Persimmon, a large-scale model built to realistically simulate how people interact

humans& unveiled Persimmon, which it calls the first large-scale model designed to realistically simulate how people talk and interact.

Team members describe the models as "wonderfully weird, irritable, and spontaneous—just like people," with arguments producing the most compelling generations. The team claims their user models meaningfully outperform frontier models at capturing the full distribution of human behavior, while acknowledging much work remains. The effort was company-wide and the team is hiring.

The underlying bet: AI that works with humans first has to understand them.
