OpenAI launches GPT-Live-1 voice API; Elise AI deploys it for healthcare calls
pbbakkum · x · 2026-09-11
- OpenAI's developer account announced GPT-Live-1 is now available in the API: voice agents with ChatGPT-style natural back-and-forth, full-duplex listening while speaking, handling interruptions mid-task, and working with models and harness of your choice.
- Early-access partner Elise AI has brought it into production for healthcare, handling patient calls for appointment booking and billing questions.
- Elise AI says the full-duplex capability is something cascaded voice pipelines can't do: conversations stay engaged even when interrupted, so patients actually get what they called for.
