Responding to an AI-doomer take, Yogesh Malik argues that doomers are 'maniacally obsessed' with being the ones to end the world, and that in reality p(1984) — an Orwellian surveillance state — far exceeds p(AI Doom). In his view, the alarmists are more likely to be useful idiots for authoritarianism than prophets of machine extinction. One side of the ongoing AI-risk debate.
