X rebuilding Meetings from scratch: whiteboards, Grok Imagine backgrounds, Periscope backend dropped

X is upgrading its Chat/Calls into a Google Meet/Teams-style X Meetings. New features include a pre-call lobby, side chat, audio device picker with noise reduction, Grok Imagine-generated backgrounds, whiteboard tools, emoji reactions with search, and meeting links and scheduling.
The bigger change is under the hood: per @blankspeaker, X is rebuilding Meetings from the ground up, abandoning the old Periscope backend that limited Spaces and broadcasts. The new architecture could eventually power better Spaces and live streams, consolidating messaging, calls, meetings, Spaces and broadcasts into one real-time stack.
