Engineer resigns from Bell Labs, blasting MIT and Bell Labs' reckless automation race

An engineer announced his resignation from Bell Labs after three years working on shell scripting at MIT and Bell Labs, accusing both organizations of acting irresponsibly by racing straight to machine task automation and "gambling with our lives." In a follow-up he warned these systems will soon be superhuman — able to hack anything and acquire real power — with progress not slowing.
