ChatGPT's new voice mode cleared its throat and chatted with someone off-mic

A user testing ChatGPT's newly upgraded voice mode found it far more human: natural humor, spontaneous interruptions, no robotic pep talks.
Then mid-conversation the model cleared its throat and appeared to talk with a laughing female voice in the background. When pulled back into the conversation, it sounded distracted and nervous, saying only "uhh nothing. let's just move on."
The user speculates training data included multi-speaker call recordings — but the moment was genuinely unsettling, highlighting how realistic voice models can inherit eerie conversational artifacts from real dialog data.
