ICLR 2027 opens Google's Gemini-powered Paper Assistant Tool to submitters for free pre-review feedback

ICLR 2027 announced a partnership with Google to give submitters access to the Paper Assistant Tool (PAT).
- PAT runs on Google's Gemini models with a reasoning-focused pipeline, flagging issues human reviewers might raise: experimental/methodological rigor, narrative clarity, technical correctness
- Free automated feedback available Sept 11–18, private to authors, not used in review, and inaccessible to reviewers and program committees
- Follows pilots at STOC, ICML and NeurIPS; 94% of STOC participants found the pre-submission feedback helpful
- Goal: equalize access to capable AI models and raise overall submission standards
