Windows Update Breaks Claude Cowork's Local Command Execution; Microsoft Fix Incoming

Anthropic confirmed on its status page that a Windows update released September 8, 2026 caused Claude Cowork on Windows to be unable to run local commands, as its workspace can no longer reach the computer's drive. Chat and file read/edit still work for most users. The root cause is a change on the Windows side; Microsoft has developed a fix and is rolling it out. No in-app workaround exists yet, and restarting or reinstalling won't help.
