No ASI Needed: Billions of Human-Level AGIs Plus Automated Drones Already Make 'Terminator'

AI safety researcher davidmanheim pushes back on the "only ASI is dangerous" framing: short of ASI, we already build camera-equipped mobile robots and drones with increasingly automated manufacturing. Combine that with tens of billions of vision-capable human-level AGIs, "and you've got Terminator."

He argues you only need to take seriously the scenario of tens or hundreds of billions of human-level AGIs — and given our poor alignment track record, they need not be severely misaligned for us to miss it.
