Stripe launches weekly SaaS Index tracking 72,000 businesses to test the AI disruption narrative

After the early-2026 "SaaSpocalypse" wiped out roughly $1 trillion (possibly $2 trillion) in enterprise software valuations on fears AI would erode SaaS business models — only for prices to recover — Stripe and Ernie Tedeschi launched the Stripe SaaS Index. The weekly same-business index uses Stripe pay-in volume to track nominal non-AI SaaS revenue health across 72,000 businesses per week, isolating real business trends from Stripe's own market-share shifts and picking up industry changes faster than quarterly filings. Indices will be hosted and updated on Stripe's site.
