Taylor Popielarz compiled alarming statements from seven AI insiders made within four days:
- Jacob Coxon (ex-Anthropic/OpenAI researcher): "The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade."
- Samuel Marks (Anthropic scalable oversight lead): developers believe their tech could cause extinction "in the next few years."
- Evan Hubinger (Anthropic alignment science lead): "We really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans!"
- Alex Turner (ex-Google DeepMind): "Many researchers believe they are building something that could kill everyone on the planet. It was literally my day job."
- Quoting @schwarzjn, who left DeepMind after 7 years and rejected offers from the other two labs over concerns about power concentration: "What is happening in this field is deeply unhealthy for society."
The cluster of statements suggests escalating public concern inside frontier labs about extinction risk and concentrated power.
