OpenAI ships Images 2.5 with 50% faster generation, precise multi-turn editing
AI寒武纪 · wechat · 2026-09-10
OpenAI released Images 2.5, cutting generation latency by up to 50% vs Images 2.0, with major gains in reference-photo fidelity, localized edits, and multi-turn consistency: style/scene transfers better preserve faces and textures, and earlier edits survive long iterative conversations without quality degradation. The API gains two models: GPT-Image-2.5 Flare (speed-optimized) and GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst (higher quality), with transparent background support and resolutions up to 4K (max edge 3840px, sides multiple of 16, aspect ratio ≤3:1).
ChatGPT also ships product features: @Sketch for doodle-to-image generation, templates for posters/merch, on-image annotation for pinpoint edits, and prompt sharing. Available to all ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex users on web, desktop, and mobile. The accompanying official prompting guide covers isolating edits from constraints, adjusting one setting at a time, quoting exact text, and labeling each reference image's role.
