Lightfield raises $47M Series A led by a16z to rebuild CRM as a business world model for agents

CRM startup Lightfield announced a $47M Series A led by a16z, aiming to reinvent CRM as a "world model of a business."
The founders argue Salesforce-style CRMs were built 20+ years ago for humans to manually update records; layering agentic processes on top yields low-quality output because the underlying data is incomplete and unstructured. Lightfield instead updates itself from every interaction — calls, emails and more — forming a trustworthy model of the business accessible via API, MCP and CLI. Since launching last November, 5,000+ companies have signed up, and it's replacing legacy CRMs at mature organizations.
A useful framing from the amplifying post: can someone take over an account without the previous owner explaining everything? A meeting-prep agent should see what yesterday's follow-up agent promised — otherwise we've automated the work but kept the handoff problem.
