Gary Marcus: the 'six weeks at Anthropic' story is an AI hallucination, not facts
GaryMarcus · x · 2026-09-10
Gary Marcus says his best sourcing shows Jacob Coxon joined near the end of May, not July as a "hallucinating AI website" and those who trusted it claimed — so the "six weeks" narrative is false. He also rejects the "entry level" framing: Coxon spent over two years at OpenAI and was long recruited by Anthropic. Marcus urges an end to character assassination and a focus on the merits and weaknesses of his ideas.
