Biochemist Douglas Yao went viral on X showcasing PAC-3310, a vial of yellow powder he claims was designed by ChatGPT and synthesized in a chemistry lab he built in his garage. He describes it as a selective M4 muscarinic receptor agonist for schizophrenia, modeled on the recently approved antipsychotic Cobenfy "but improved." On GitHub he claims to have designed thousands of new small-molecule drugs with AI. Futurism's coverage mocks the stunt: an individual with no pharma affiliation synthesizing untested prescription compounds at home sits dangerously close to "AI psychosis."
