Massachusetts orders data centers over 25MW to bring their own clean power

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey signed an executive order requiring new data centers with peak demand above 25 megawatts to bring their own power that meets the state's clean-energy rules: preferably generated on-site, otherwise funded nearby or paid into a ratepayer protection fund. It's the latest sign of states turning against data centers after years of incentives, as public opposition grows; implementing regulations are still pending.
