Anthropic models extreme AI scenario: +32% US GDP by 2030, 17.9% knowledge-worker unemployment
robleclerc · x · 2026-09-10
Anthropic's latest research projects an extreme AI scenario where AI autonomously performs nearly all knowledge work with no new human tasks. US GDP would be 32.4% higher by 2030, but labor income barely changes while capital's share rises from 40% to 54.8%. Knowledge-worker unemployment hits 17.9% vs 3.9% for other workers, and their pay falls 11.5% below baseline. Quoting the study, Rob LeClanc adds a personal take: >10% chance all humans die from over-abundance.
