First AI-designed drug hits Phase 3; Insilico releases 4B kinase specialist model

Insilico Medicine announced that Rentosertib, the first AI-designed drug, has entered Phase 3 trials. It inhibits TNIK, a kinase that acts as a molecular switch inside cells.

The core challenge with kinases is selectivity: their binding pockets are remarkably similar, so a molecule designed for one may hit others. To address this, the company also released InsilicoMMAI-4B-Chem-Kinome, a 4B-parameter specialist language model claiming SOTA+ performance across 31 kinase targets.
