NVIDIA joins Rust Foundation as Platinum member, pushes official Rust support across CUDA
vinodg · x · 2026-09-10
NVIDIA has joined the Rust Foundation as a Platinum member alongside the Solana Foundation, with engineers Jared Roesch and Jason Knight taking board seats.
- Roesch, an early Rust contributor (pre-1.0 language work), says NVIDIA will push to make Rust an officially supported platform across its entire CUDA stack, including CPUs and GPUs.
- He argues Rust's tooling, quality and performance benefit both human developers and AI coding agents as adoption grows.
- The post links to a CUDA Rust getting-started guide for writing GPU kernels in Rust; more Rust + NVIDIA collaborations are promised in the coming months.
