SOFAIR (Science of Fundamental AI Research Lab) launched today, with David Barber paraphrased at the event: while everyone talks about AI for Science, SOFAIR is about Science for AI—using scientific methods to study AI fundamentals.
Launch partners include UCL, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, and UKRI, signaling a UK academia-led coalition for fundamental AI research.
