Codex Pro user reports weekly limit collapsing from 60% to 12% in under 5 minutes
redknightlois · ghdev · 2026-09-10
A Codex Pro ($200 tier) user filed issue #44205 against openai/codex reporting that on the Astra XHigh setting, their weekly quota dropped from over 60% to just 12% remaining in less than 5 minutes. The trigger was trivial: asking the model to validate a few uncommitted files, reading a handful of files, and running a few tail statements — essentially no real work, yet roughly half the allowance vanished.
The user confirmed the drop via two /status runs, posted a screenshot of the <25% weekly-limit warning, and argues the expected behavior is clearly not burning 50% of a $200 account for a few idle turns. The issue has drawn 24 reactions and 29 comments and carries a feedback ticket.
