Matt Slotnick's thread argues application software isn't out of the woods: the risk was never extinction but missing the agent layer, which is the entirety of the growth market. SOR apps own core business records (CRM holds customer state, HRIS employee state), giving them theoretical architectural and pricing power — yet in practice they've shipped almost no successful agent-layer products, records are flattened and lack process data, agents operate off-platform, and today's records may not even be the right ones for agent-native work.
