Dell books record $60.9B in AI server orders in one quarter as on-prem AI infrastructure wins

Dell posted one of the season's biggest earnings beats: revenue of $47B (up 58%), adjusted EPS of $7.04 vs. $4.90 expected, a record $60.9B in AI server orders in a single quarter, a $95B backlog, and raised full-year guidance to $192B (70% YoY growth).

The real signal, the author argues, is that the next wave of AI infrastructure spending is happening on premises: enterprises keep sensitive data on their own servers, and AI agents running around the clock make the economics of owned compute increasingly favorable — a position Dell is well placed to capture.
