Nathan Lambert: HuggingFace Is a Steal for Nvidia, Worth ~$10B Every Year
TheZachMueller · x · 2026-09-10
Researcher Nathan Lambert weighed in on Nvidia's reported $10B acquisition of Hugging Face (he previously argued Nvidia should buy HF to deepen CUDA-open-source integration): HF's core asset is its soft power to shape the direction and discourse of AI, which is worth $10B a year to a company as rich as Nvidia. The challenge will be preserving that culture. He also argues Nvidia is a better buyer than any of the three clouds, which would face pressure to monetize HF against GitHub, while Nvidia can let HF operate free from being a 'functioning business.'
