Suno moves to licensed music training, but 'user data' from old models raises concerns

Suno's chief product officer Jack Brody said the company is moving to models trained on licensed music — a shift Ed Newton-Rex credits to the wave of lawsuits against AI music companies. But he flags two worries: Suno says the new models were still trained on "Suno user data", which likely means outputs generated by earlier models that were trained on musicians' work without permission; and "preference learnings from its earlier models" shares the same tainted provenance.
