Waterloo's Jimmy Lin elected 2026 Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada

Jimmy Lin, professor at the University of Waterloo's Cheriton School of Computer Science, has been named a 2026 Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada — the country's highest scholarly honour, with 105 new fellows this year, 7 from Waterloo. Lin is known for pioneering work in question answering at the intersection of IR and NLP, holds the David R. Cheriton Chair, and is already an ACM Fellow, ACL Fellow, and SIGIR Academy member.
