Anthropic launches economic futures explorer: fast-AI scenarios hit knowledge-worker wages
eherrerosj · x · 2026-09-09
Anthropic's economics team released the "Scenarios for our Economic Future" technical report and interactive explorer, based on Korinek et al.'s "Economic Scenarios for Transformative AI." In mild scenarios (2x normal growth), unemployment stays in the historical range and wages are flat or rising by industry; in scenarios with historically unprecedented growth, knowledge workers face adverse wage and job impacts, with the challenge being broad sharing of gains. Users can input their own AI capability/adoption assumptions and see the implied 2030 economy.
