Doubao Work update: browser recording becomes reusable Skills, native Office editing, mid-task device switching
新智元 · wechat · 2026-09-09
ByteDance's Doubao Work shipped three features this week: browser recording & replay (demonstrate a task once in the built-in browser and it becomes a reusable Skill, no long prompts needed), local Office editing (directly edit PPT/Excel files on disk and save in place; Word coming later), and mid-task environment switching (move a running task between local and cloud machines without losing the conversation context).
The article frames three pain points of AI office tools: hard to describe workflows in text, files out of reach, and tasks locked to one machine. The author tested recording a weekly-report Skill and migrating a long-running monthly-report task to a cloud PC, retrieving results an hour later.
