AI doomerism clash: Anthropic researcher pegs >10% extinction risk this decade, journalist slams fear-mongering

A heated X exchange crystallizes the AI risk debate. Anthropic alignment researcher Evan Hub says he sincerely believes AI could kill all humans—personally estimating >10% odds within the next decade—adding that while Anthropic is trying its best, there's no plan yet to solve alignment for superintelligence.
Journalist Taylor Lorentz fired back, calling such "sanctimonious doomer posting" infuriating: it foments public terror about a new technology that will be channeled into "the worst laws imaginable," all for Twitter likes.
