Part one of the thread splits directory sites into three types: (1) general portals like hao123/2345 survive but are no longer entry points — submitting to them earns neither traffic nor meaningful link equity; (2) vertical curated directories (There's An AI For That, Toolify, G2, Capterra, Product Hunt) are the only layer still growing, valued because users come to make decisions amid tool overload; (3) local/business directories carry weak link value but consistent NAP citations still help local businesses, little use for dofollow-driven ranking plays.
