Mathematician accuses OpenAI of spinning up competing team after learning of his work; Bubeck denies

Mathematician @alpoge published the points he raised with OpenAI on September 2: he says he had intel OpenAI learned of his ongoing (strictly personal, year-long) math collaboration and spun up a group to compete days earlier, and warned competing against mathematician consumers would look terrible. Sebastien Bubeck responded that nothing was locked, OpenAI was willing to talk as much as needed, and the claim is untrue because he never engaged.
