One-line prompt run 200 times: GPT-5.6 Luna says "cartograph" in 199 of them

Amine-LG · reddit · 2026-09-09

A Reddit user ran the bare prompt "Invent a literary novel title. Title only." across 200 fresh Codex sessions with GPT-5.6 Luna (low reasoning): 199/200 outputs contained the word family "cartograph". Stripping all project context barely changed it (198/200). Spot checks show Claude Sonnet never produced cartograph in 60 tries, defaulting to "The Weight of " instead — and the identical title "The Cartographer of Lost Hours" appeared verbatim 21 times across 4 different companies' models. Full logs are on GitHub; the cause (training data, sampling, or serving layer) remains unexplained.
