First hands-on with Astra: faster than expected, priced at 1x like Sol and Sonnet
revodavid · x · 2026-09-09
Developer revodavid shares first-hand impressions of the new Astra model:
- Speed: faster than expected when used via GitHub Copilot; slightly slower than Sol but not by much.
- Pricing: cheaper than expected at 1x, same rate as Sol and Sonnet.
- Weak spot: music composition. Testing by generating scores in MIDI produced uninspiring results even with detailed prompts, so he left the audio toggle off by default.
Despite that, he expects Astra to become his new daily driver.
