Apple Quietly Acquired Sonera, Whose Chips Read Brain Activity via Magnetic Fields

EU DMA filings reveal Apple has acquired Sonera, maker of chip-based magnetic sensors that non-invasively measure magnetic fields from neural activity—no skin contact needed—aiming to make brain activity as easy to measure as heart rate. A 2023 press release also cited an S1 chip enabling consumer wearables based on muscle activity, pointing toward future Apple health/neuro-sensing wearables.
