Google says EU DMA rules caused the biggest Search quality drop in its 29-year history

Google says that to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act, it is stripping features like real-time prices from hotel, airline and restaurant results while pushing comparison sites like Booking and Expedia higher — the biggest reduction in Search quality in its 29-year history.

Google adds that earlier DMA changes already caused a 30% drop in free, direct booking traffic to European businesses, and tests with millions of users showed high dissatisfaction. Users outside the EU are unaffected.
