After OpenAI announced an agent-generated proof of the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, a dispute broke out over credit. Quoting the drama, Sam Altman says he spent the weekend with the rival team, calling them people of integrity. He reveals OpenAI initially believed both teams had solved the same problem and wanted a joint release; upon learning the other team had Euler but not Navier-Stokes, OpenAI offered to let them publish first, take the prize, and even have Tristan lead a rewrite of OpenAI's proof — but couldn't extend the same to Anthropic employee Levent, who refused to coordinate.
