The Guardian reports OpenAI claims to have solved Navier-Stokes, a Millennium Prize Problem that stumped mathematicians for nearly a century, using 10,000 AI systems in 88 hours at a cost of millions of dollars. NYU professor Tristan Buckmaster says OpenAI accelerated after learning he and an Anthropic researcher were close to their own breakthrough, raising concerns since their work-in-progress sat in OpenAI's Codex. OpenAI's Sebastien Bubeck denied using the pair's work or accessing their materials.
