Documents obtained by The Intercept show OpenAI and Google aren't just selling products to the US military — they're working hand in hand with the Pentagon, advising on AI usage and risks, shaping military AI strategy, and even receiving briefings on "operational missions."

Safety researcher Heidy Khlaaf told the outlet this puts AI companies in a dangerous, anti-democratic position: they seek to deploy their tech in the military while self-reporting and determining the risks of their own products.
