Physical Intelligence partners with Deft to deploy general robot foundation models in automotive factories
paigeinsf · x · 2026-09-09
Deft Robotics and Physical Intelligence are bringing general-purpose robot foundation models into real automotive factories for line feeding: repeatedly picking parts from bins and placing them on the production line. Since parts shift after every pick, fixed rules-based automation doesn't scale — PI's foundation models paired with Deft's hardware let robots adapt to the variation. The poster notes PI is taking an ecosystem approach, cultivating integrators across verticals to collect feedback data for model improvement.
