Responding to OpenAI's claim that a swarm of agents on a next-generation model produced a proof of the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, researcher Geoffrey Irving says he predicted for years that Navier-Stokes would be the first Millennium Prize to fall — but failed to foresee it resolving amid a bitter controversy. In the quoted post, he reasoned that recent blowup results for similar PDEs made a negative resolution more likely and more achievable than a positive one.
