OpenAI's Bubeck clarifies Navier-Stokes drama: never asked to strip authorship

OpenAI researcher Sebastien Bubeck posted a clarification on the Navier-Stokes proof controversy: the leaked screenshot shows him reaching out to Levent to coordinate release timing with good intentions, and he says he never asked for Levent to be removed from authorship of his own work.
He explains he only learned on a call with Tristan that the pair had solved Euler but not Navier-Stokes, after which they brainstormed paths forward — including Tristan lead-authoring a rewrite of OpenAI's Navier-Stokes proof, the context for his remark that "it would be simpler if Levent was not an Anthropic employee."
