OpenAI's chief scientist Mark Chen published an essay, An Alien Mind, on the state of AI, why he's concerned about the next few years, and the choices needed to keep the future in humanity's hands. Commentator Matt Yglesias called it thoughtful but "completely at odds" with what OpenAI's lobbyists tell Congress and state legislatures, and with how OpenAI-linked superpac money behaves — spotlighting the gap between executive beliefs and corporate lobbying.
