Agent swarm burns 300B tokens in 88 hours to crack Navier-Stokes, dev claims

bingxu_ · x · 2026-09-09

SwarmOS developer bingxu shared a report of a massive agent swarm tackling the Navier–Stokes problem: resolution arrived 88 hours after launch, with formalization and Lean verification via 'GPT-6 Astra' taking another 17 hours. Across all attempted problems the agents sent 4.9 million messages and consumed 300 billion output tokens (2.7M messages / 130B tokens for Navier–Stokes alone). He notes SwarmOS supports 10k live agents but they long lacked a use case this big — and the cost is far beyond a small startup. Unverified claim.
