OpenAI announced that a group of agents, using a next-generation model it says is significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra, produced a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem—one of the deepest unsolved problems in mathematics, concerning whether smooth 3D fluid motion described by the equations can break down, unresolved for roughly 90 years. OpenAI researcher Steven Heidel shared the news.
