Lila Sciences cofounder Ben Kompa makes MIT TR35 list for autonomous science push

Ben Kompa, 31, cofounder of AI-for-science startup Lila Sciences (valued at over $1.3 billion), has been named to MIT Technology Review's Innovators Under 35 list.
Kompa's mission is "scientific superintelligence": using AI to run every step of the scientific method — generating hypotheses, designing experiments, executing them in automated labs, and feeding results into the next round. As head of AI lab innovation, he builds the LLM-based software OS connecting AI to analytical and lab instruments, plus new robotic hardware to expand automation across materials science, chemistry, and life sciences. He researched LLMs for science and healthcare during his Harvard PhD before joining Flagship Pioneering.
